AC Man arrested in OC on Outstanding Warrant

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Anderson County man Tuesday on an outstanding warrant on charges of receiving stolen goods. An investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division received a call on Sept. 3, 2015, from a complainant on Stone Farm Road in Westminster who had recently bought a golf cart from 36-year-old Patrick Todd Smith of Anderson previously. The complainant had suspicions about the golf cart after being given a description of one that was reported stolen from Pendleton. Working with law enforcement partners in Anderson County, the investigator obtained a picture of the stolen golf cart and responded to the address on Stone Farm Road. The investigator took pictures of the golf cart there and sent those pictures to an investigator in Anderson. The investigator in Anderson County met with the victim in Pendleton, whereupon it was confirmed that the golf cart belonged to the victim there. The golf cart was recovered and arrangements were made to return to cart back to the victim in Anderson County. As the investigation continued, warrants were obtained against Smith charging him with possessing the golf cart knowing that it was stolen. Smith was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center after being transported by an officer from the Warrants Division from the Walden/Stevenson Correctional Institution in Columbia to Oconee County. Smith was given a $5,000 surety bond on the charges and the South Carolina Department of Corrections placed a hold on him.
