American Jobs taking toll on Workers Waistlines

A new survey by CareerBuilder.com finds that many workers say their job is taking a toll on their waistline. Michael Erwin is senior advisor at CareerBuilder.com.  “What we found was more than half of workers would categorize themselves as overweight and that is on par with last year, while 39% said that they have gained weight in their current job.” Erwin breaks down the average weight gain by American office workers. “21% of the workers we talked to said that they have gained at least 10 pounds in their current job, while 9% said that they have put on more than 20 pounds.” Physical fitness is a workplace issue, concludes Erwin. “The one thing that we look at in the workplace is always issues that are effecting workers and what we found here is that as more and more workers take on more work and are more stressed, unfortunately they’re not finding that time to go and workout and that is adding to extra pounds.” According to the survey, 18% of workers feel that somebody who is thin and fit actually gets more favoritism in the office.  To read the complete survey visit www.CareerBuilder.com.
