Bobcat Baseball Team advances to State Championship Series

Congratulations to the Seneca High School varsity baseball team for winning the AAA Upper State Title on Wednesday by beating Mid-Carolina 5-1. SHS Varsity Baseball Coach Andy Bay is very proud of his team and all their hard work. “It has been a work in progress for years; I’m just very proud of the boys. This is a very special group that has committed to do all the things that it takes in the off-season, in the summer, and lots of these kids play year round. Just a special group that believes in supporting each other and being good teammates. They are very talented group and I am just enjoying the ride. I’m very proud of our kids and how far we have come.” The Bobcats have yet to lose a playoff game this season. Their next opponent is Bishop England, who are the Lower State Champions, tells Coach Bay. “Bishop England is kind of doing what we have been doing in the Upstate State, in the Lower State. Our records are very similar, we are 23-4 now and I think they are right there with us. We hear they play a lot of small ball, they have a lot of good team speed, we have a guy committed to the Division 1 level that pitches and so do they. So, we match-up pretty well and it should be a lot of fun on Saturday here at Seneca.” The teams square off in game one of the best of three State Championship Series at 2pm on Saturday at Seneca High School.
