nicholas-kyle-brownThe Pickens County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Central man following an investigation into the injuries found on his 4-month-old son. On Oct. 5, 2016, the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a local hospital that they were treating suspicious injuries found on a 4-month-old child. Pursuant to an investigation conducted by detectives, it was determined that the victim had sustained multiple injuries to include skull fractures, multiple broken ribs and a broken arm. The child’s father, 24-year-old Nicholas Kyle Brown, was arrested Thursday at the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office for causing the injuries following an extensive investigation that included interviews with attending physicians and their medical staff, family members and other professionals in the field of child abuse investigations. A forensic examination of the child’s injuries indicates that the abuse occurred over a period of time and was not the result of one single event. Two additional children in the home, ages 1 and 4, were removed from the residence and placed into foster care pending further investigation by the Department of Social Services. The 4-month-old victim has also been placed in foster care and continues to recover from his injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Brown remains in custody at the Pickens County Detention Center on the charges of inflicting great bodily injury to a child with bond set at $40,000.
