Change Your Clocks this Sunday

The days get shorter as we fall back with time and turn clocks back one hour this Sunday. As you change your clocks take time to also change the batteries in your smoke alarm, explains Seneca Firefighter Chris Cartee. “Do you know that more than 4,000 Americans died in home fires last year? In most cases, the home did not have a working smoke alarm. A sounding smoke alarm gives you the extra seconds you need to get out of your home alive. We recommend that you replace the battery twice a year. It is a simple way to help keep you and your family better protected 24/7.” Check to make sure the smoke alarm is working properly. Use the extra hour to review your family’s escape plan in the event of a house fire.
