Clemson Men’s Basketball to celebrate Military Appreciation Day

Service members, veterans and the armed forces will be honored when the Clemson University men’s basketball team plays host to the Virginia Tech Hokies Sunday. The Clemson University Media Relations Department reports that Military Appreciation Day activities will begin with cadets from Clemson’s Air Force and Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps detachments unfurling a large American flag on the Littlejohn Coliseum court for the national anthem. Special presentations will be made during breaks in play. A check will be presented to the Air Force and Army ROTC detachments. These checks represent funds contributed to the Clemson Corps scholarship endowment, which provides scholarships to ROTC cadets and helps support both ROTC programs. In addition, Clemson’s student veterans will be honored for serving their country and returning to continue their educations. At halftime, the Tiger Band will honor all veterans by playing a service-themed medley. A short feature about the university’s Scroll of Honor, which lists the 490 Clemson alumni who died while on active military duty, will be shown.
