Lucas looking forward to New Adventure

Monday night, the Board of Trustees for the School District of Oconee County accepted the retirement request of Superintendent Dr. Mike Lucas.  His retirement takes effect May 2 and he says he is looking forward to a new adventure.  “I’m real pleased that the School Board has allowed me to move forward towards my retirement.  I have over 35 of experience and I really count myself lucky that my last nine years as a South Carolina teacher and administrator was in Oconee County.  The citizens have been very supportive and I have really enjoyed being an advocate for the youngest citizens in our county.  So, I’m looking forward to a new adventure.” The Oconee County School Board approved the appointment of Dr. Michael Thorsland as interim superintendent effective May 2.  Dr. Thorsland has served as Assistant Superintendent for the past nine years.
