OC Sheriff’s Office launches New Litter App

telllogo2The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has launched a new app to help with the litter problem and keep the shine on the Golden Corner. Wednesday afternoon, Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw held a press conference to announce the new litter initiative. “Keeping with our partnership with KOBA, Keep Oconee Beautiful Association and their efforts to combat litter, they have Kobie the Bear and they have put out several initiatives. I said if we had a way that citizens when they see that they could call us or somehow let us know, just a quick easy way and we have come up with it, a new app. You can do it on the computer and smart phones; it is www.oconeelaw.com/litter. We have TELL Kobie, which is an acronym for Together Eliminate Litter Locations.” Sheriff Crenshaw tells how citizens can use the new app to report litter sites. “We are asking our citizens to help us identify these litter locations. Someone can download this app or go on their computer and tell us the location and give us a description of what is there and send report. That goes automatically to our Environmental Services Deputy. He gets that print out and when we take inmates out to pick up litter, he has a roadmap of where to go to do the spot pickups.” The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office plans to use inmate labor crews at least three times a week to clean reported litter sites.
