Pack the WCA to honor OC’s Fallen Heroes

Oconee County honors the memory of 210 military heroes who lost their lives in the service of our country on Monday, May 29, 2017, at noon in a Memorial Day ceremony at the Walhalla Civic Auditorium (WCA), tells Jerry Dyar of the Oconee County Veterans Affairs Office. “Pastor Randy Keasler of Westminster will serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s ceremony. He will speak on the effects of local family members when they get that “tragic” news from the military that a loved one has died in the service of his country. Pastor Keasler is well qualified to speak on the subject, as he lost an uncle, Boyce Keasler, in Italy during WWII. A wreath will be placed at a replica of the War Memorial, which stands in front of the Oconee County Courthouse in Walhalla listing the names of 210 Oconee County heroes who lost their lives in the military service of our country.” The Oconee County Veterans Council hopes the WCA will be filled to capacity, as it should be, for this year’s ceremony as the county honors the memory of some truly great people.
