PC Sheriff’s Office investigating Weekend Fire

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fire that completely destroyed a well-known establishment located at 1490 Moorefield Memorial Highway late Saturday night. A passing motorist notified authorities on May 20, 2017, just before midnight, after seeing flames near the front porch area of “Bob’s Place”. The tavern, known to many in the area, is located in a remote area of Pickens County and has been declared to be a total loss from the fire damage. The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with fire officials and has determined that the fire is suspicious in nature. No arrests have been made but numerous individuals have been interviewed regarding any activities or incidents over the previous weeks that might be related to the fire on Saturday night. The business was closed at the time of the incident and therefore no injuries were sustained as a result of the fire. The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information concerning this incident to call 864-898-5500 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
