SC extends ID Protection Deadline

More time has been granted to South Carolina taxpayers affected by the information security data breach to protect themselves.  The new deadline to sign up for protection is March 31, 2013 for the millions of residents who lost their information when the South Carolina Department of Revenue database was breached.  Experian is providing a year of free credit monitoring and unlimited fraud resolution. The previous deadline to sign up had been January 31, 2013. Experian’s Protect My ID Alert is designed to detect, protect and resolve potential identity theft, and includes daily monitoring. The protection includes $1 million identity theft Insurance to cover certain costs including, lost wages, private investigator fees, and unauthorized electronic fund transfers.
