SC Governor and Clemson Coach at odds over Helmet Law

Clemson University Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, a Clemson graduate, are on the opposite sides of the field about a helmet law for the state. The Associated Press reports that Coach Swinney wants a law requiring everyone who rides a moped or motorcycle to wear a helmet. Earlier this month, one of Coach Swinney’s football players at Clemson was not wearing a helmet when he was injured in a moped accident. However, in June, Gov. Haley vetoed a helmet law saying adults should be able to decide about wearing helmets for themselves. North Charleston Republican Bill Crosby, also a Clemson grad, plans to reintroduce the helmet bill in January.
