Seneca Rec kicks off Football Season tonight

Youth football kicks off tonight in the City of Seneca, announces Seneca Assistant Recreation Director Shannon Knight. “We’ve got Liberty coming in to play our 10U and 12U tonight and its the first night of football for us so we are excited and ready to see our teams in action.” Knight gives the number of kids playing football in the city this year. “We are looking at about 100 kids total. Each of our teams has between 28-32 kids on it and we have one team in 8U, one in 10U and one in 12U.” The community is encouraged to come out and cheer on the local youth teams at a familiar stadium, says Knight. “Our games are held at Gignilliat Field, which is across from Northside Elementary School. We have been playing there for the last few years.” Regular season games are free, continues Knight. “No charge for admission for regular season games. The only games that we charge for are our Super Saturday games and this year they will be held on Sept. 24. We will be hosting Walhalla and those games will be at 10am, 11:30am and 1pm.” The Seneca Bobcat 10U game against Liberty at Gignilliat Field kicks off at 6pm tonight with the 12U game starting around 7:30pm. Once again admission is free.
