Seneca Rec Teams making mark at State Tournaments

This summer youth athletes in the Seneca Recreation Department are making their mark around the state. Every softball and baseball team advanced to the state finals of their tournaments. Seneca Mayor Pro-tem Ronnie O’Kelley says one team was even recognized for sportsmanship. “The 7-8 boys won the sportsmanship trophy in the 2016 State Tournament this year. Then on Saturday, the 11-12 boys play in Sumter, so they are still in it. When you are still playing this late in the year you are pretty darn good.” Mayor Pro-tem O’Kelley thanks the coaches for volunteering their time to make a difference in a child’s life through sports. “We are very blessed to have the coaches that we have in this town because they get paid zero and then when little Johnnie doesn’t play enough they get screamed at but I appreciate people who donate their time, I mean these a re guys that don’t have to do it.” Congratulations to Seneca Recreation Teams for success at their recent state tournaments and thanks for making Seneca look good throughout the Palmetto State.
