Severe Winter Weather Guide available at OC Sheriff’s Office

Copies of the Severe Winter Weather Guide, published by the South Carolina Emergency Management Division and the State Emergency Response Team, are available at the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office while supplies last. The free guides can be picked up at the window in the front lobby of the Oconee County Law Enforcement Center at 300 South Church Street in Walhalla between the hours of 9am and 4pm Monday through Friday. The guides provide information on how individuals and their families can stay safe in the event of winter weather, from basic knowledge of winter weather terms to what to do before, during and after a winter storm to where to turn for delay and closing information. The brochure points out that during the winter storm in February of 2014, there were 364,000 power outages statewide and total damages from the winter storm was around $260 million dollars.
