Still Time to pay Fines with Food at OCPL

There is still time to pay off library fines with food. The Oconee County Public Library is collecting Food for Fines through the end of the month, explains Branch Services Librarian Blair Hinson. “We will do our Food for Fines campaign again this year. It will run through Dec. 31. This is a great way for us to help folks in our community and give back a little bit as well as help folks clear up some of those library fines. The way it works is you bring in a non-perishable, non-expired food item; canned good or dry good, and for every item that you bring in we will waive $1 in fines from your record, up to a total of $5 per account. This cannot be used for lost or damaged items; those have to be paid for. These contributions will go to two locations in our area this year. The food we collect will go to the Golden Corner Food Pantry in Seneca and also to We Care of Westminster.” Moreover, you can even donate if you have no fines. So, do not miss this opportunity to help the community and clean up your library account at the same time.
