Strickland Museum Archives drawing Attention

Restoration work on the Bertha Lee Strickland Cultural Museum in downtown Seneca has been suspended until the first of the year. However, since the project to create an African-American history and heritage museum began, it has garnered lots of attention. Lunney House Museum curator and director Dr. John Martin says the project is bringing history to life. “The history that is coming out; the artifacts, the materials that are coming from the greater community for the archives. This is very unusual for a town of this size to have archives to be supported as the museum is, by the City of Seneca. This is unusual throughout the state and we are getting acclaim for this. The archives will be professionally done and there will be information that people from throughout the county and state may want to come and visit when it is finally open.” The Strickland Museum will be busy with work in January as the city plans a big celebration for Black History Month in February.
