Traffic Fatalities increasing in OC

Oconee County is experiencing an increase in traffic fatalities. According to the latest figures from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, the Golden Corner lists 10 highway deaths in 2015 compared to seven in 2014 at this time. Anderson County reports 17 in 2015 and 23 in 2014. Pickens County lists seven each year. As of Aug. 2, 532 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 454 highway deaths during the same time period in 2014. Of the 360 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2015, 182 were not wearing seat belts.
