Volunteer Firefighter hailed as Hero

A Townville volunteer firefighter is being hailed as a hero for his actions Wednesday afternoon at Townville Elementary School. Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper says Jamie Brock tackled the shooter after responding to the distress call. Brock is a 30-year veteran of the Townville Volunteer Fire Department, which is a short distance from the school and arrived before other officers responded. Two students and a teacher were shot by a 14-year-old armed with a handgun. Officials report that 6-year-old Jacob Hall is listed in critical condition at Greenville Memorial Hospital after being shot in the leg on the school’s playground. Another student was shot in the foot and a teacher was shot in the shoulder; both were treated and released from the hospital Wednesday evening. The 14-year-old boy accused of those shootings, also allegedly killed his father at home just a few miles away from the school. An autopsy is planned for the father, Jeffrey Osborne, on Thursday. He was found dead at the family’s home on Osborne Road. The teen remains in custody, awaiting a family court hearing on Friday. Townville Elementary School is closed for the rest of the week as authorities continue their investigation into the case.
