Westminster Man arrested on Multiple Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man Thursday, May 25, 2017, on multiple charges, including a charge of grand larceny. Booked into the Oconee County Detention Center was 21-year-old Austin Thomas Woodard. He was also charged with two counts of second degree burglary and one count of petit larceny. Deputies received reports on two separate occasions, on March 4, and March 23, respectively, of burglaries to storage units at an address on Rochester Highway near Seneca. In the burglary reported on March 4, a quantity of tools were taken, which included chainsaws. In the burglary reported March 23, a quantity of items were taken, which included camping and outdoor equipment and tools. The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. As a result of the investigation and the evidence that was gathered, it was determined that Woodard had entered the rented buildings sometime between March 1-3, and took the items from the buildings. Based upon the evidence that was gathered as a result of the investigation, the investigator in the case had probable cause to obtain arrest warrants against Woodard on May 24. The arraignment judge set a combined $30,000 surety bond for Woodard.
