2016 American Legion Golf Tournament planned

The Walhalla American Legion is finalizing plans for its 2016 Dave Riley Memorial Golf Tournament. Event chairman Jerry Dyar says this year’s tournament will be held at Falcon’s Lair Golf Course on Lecroy Road, just off North Highway 11 between West Union and Salem. Falcon’s Lair is one of the best conditioned courses in the area and Jim and James McCoy have gone overboard to assist the local veterans in this project. Jim McCoy, himself an Air Force, said, “We truly believe in our veterans, and, that we cannot do enough to support them. James and I are delighted to work with the outstanding Walhalla American Legion in this project”. Dyar said, “We are extremely proud of this event as it has raised some $70,000 dollars over the past nine years. Funds that help sustain such Post 124 projects like American Legion Baseball, Palmetto Boys State, our Scholarship Fund, Bracelet Fund through the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, local veteran’s relief fund, and, over the past couple of years, the Post 124 new building fund, which will start rising from the ground in September. We need about 6-8 more 4-person teams of golfers and hole sponsors.” If you would like to enter a team for the Aug. 20 tournament, call Jerry Dyar at 864-723-5501.
