2nd Reading Of Short Term Rental Ordinance May Be On The Table For Next Seneca City Council Meeting

(Seneca, SC)—A topic of discussion for Seneca City Council and several concerned citizens in the last several weeks and even months as well has been a proposed Short Term Rental ordinance.

During Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, City Administer Scott Moulder provided an update on the proposed ordinance that may be ready at the next council meeting for a 2nd reading.

Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander was a guest on the Coffee Time program Wednesday and the Mayor said that there are other municipalities throughout the state that are dealing with the Short Term Rental issue.

The Mayor said that taking care of the citizens of Seneca and protecting their communities is a top priority while also balancing owner’s property rights.

The proposal that may be presented to Council in a couple of weeks “actually has a lot of thought that has gone into it.”  A part of the updated ordinance may have a provision that allows short term rentals for primary residences only.
