63rd Annual South Carolina Apple Festival Brings Music, Parades, and Community Fun
The 63rd Annual South Carolina Apple Festival in Westminster kicked off on Thursday with a BBQ fundraiser for the Westminster Scouts. The festival features live music, craft vendors, an apple baking contest, and quilt shows. At the baking contest, 27 apple-based desserts were judged on taste, presentation, and appeal. Silas Yoder won the 5-12 age group, Hunter Livingston took first in the 13-17 category, and Emily Herndon claimed the top prize in the 18 and older division with her apple pie. Participation increased from last year’s nearly 20 entries.
Today, Friday, September 6, the Rotary luncheon at 1 p.m. will feature state superintendent of education Ellen Weaver after she visits Westminster Elementary at 11am, followed by the parade at 5 p.m., led by Grand Marshal OCSO Corporal Lucas Watts. Parade lineup starts at 4 p.m. in the Dollar Tree parking lot.
On Saturday, September 7th, events continue with live music at 10 a.m., story time with Miss Apple at 10:15 a.m., and the Westminster Championship Rodeo at 8 p.m.
The festival concludes Sunday, September 8th from 5pm-8pm with Elevate Oconee Presented by the F.A.R.M Center @ The Farm Center on Sandifer Blvd. in Seneca.
The festival celebrates Oconee County’s apple-growing tradition.
