8th Annual Greater Clemson Music Festival Kicks Off Tomorrow Night

(Seneca, SC)———-The 8th Annual Greater Clemson Music Festival will kick off tomorrow night at 6pm with The Eric Scott Band performing on the Village Green in Pendleton. The Festival will continue all the way through the month of April, concluding with a concert featuring the Atlanta Rhythm Section at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at Clemson University on Tuesday, April 30th.

The genesis for the event, according to the organizer of the Festival, Vince Jackson, began more than 50 years ago when artists such as James Brown, The Supremes, Jackie Wilson, Otis Redding, Count Bassie and Duke Ellington performed locally with many of those artists playing at Littlejohn’s Grill in Clemson.

Jackson wrote a newspaper article and published a book regarding this musical history, which served as the Genesis for the Clemson Music Festival.

Jackson says that there is a variety of music for everyone and the money that is raised through the festival benefits local charities. Jackson discussed the Clemson Music Festival during a recent appearance on the Coffee Time program.

Also part of the Clemson Music Festival this year will be Jazz On The Alley on Thursday, April 18th in Seneca with Nathan Angelo performing. For more information, visit www.clemsonmusicfest.org.
