911 Service restored in OC

Oconee County 911 systems are back after a Thursday morning outage. The outage was triggered by a problem with AT&T phone lines that ran to the Oconee County system.  Officials report that parts of the county, including the 911 center, had no landline service Thursday morning. Cell phone calls were not affected. The system was down from around 6am until shortly before 11am. Oconee County emergency calls were routed to Pickens County 911 dispatchers as part of contingency plans. Only two calls for fire or ambulance happened during the outage. AT&T officials said the cause of the outage is being investigated.
