No Cause yet for Law Enforcement Center Fire

Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw says there are still no answers to explain the Sept. 23, fire that damaged the Law Enforcement Center in Walhalla. However, the origin of the fire has been determined to be inside the room used by uniform patrol officers to complete paperwork. Oconee County’s insurance carrier has sent an independent cause and origin investigator to review what happened. Sheriff Crenshaw said that investigator awaits word from the manufacturers of the various electrical devices that were in the room, to determine if their representatives wish to be present when he conducts further investigation. Those manufacturers have ten days to respond.
