Westminster Woman arrested on Receiving Stolen Goods Charge

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster woman over the weekend on a charge of receiving stolen goods. 31-year-old Ryanne Nichole Smith of Blackjack Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4:12pm Saturday. The judge set a $15,000 surety bond on Smith, who also had an outstanding Magistrates Bench Warrant at the time of her arrest. A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to a business address on Shiloh Road near Seneca Saturday afternoon in regards to reports of a possible stolen vehicle. When the deputy arrived on the scene, he observed a black 2012 Jeep Wrangler on the property. A check of the VIN number on the Jeep revealed that it was entered into the National Crimes Information Center database as stolen out of Anderson County. The deputy made contact with Smith inside the store and based upon information obtained as a result of the investigation, it was determined that Smith was in possession of the vehicle. Smith was placed under arrest on the outstanding bench warrant and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center. The vehicle was towed from the scene and will be processed by Anderson County. Based upon the evidence obtained, the deputy had probable cause to charge Smith with receiving stolen goods and an arrest warrant was obtained.
