Heavy Rains fall in OC

Over three inches of rain fell Monday, reports Official U.S. Weather Observer Barbara Wilson from her weather station in Walhalla. “Sunday night, here at the weather station, we had .20, but then from 7am on Monday until approximately 2:30pm, we had 3.47. I noticed on the screens that the storm was going almost north to northest, so other parts of the county might have gotten more or less. That gives us over 3.5 inches for this particular event and then for the month, it gives us over 9.5 inches, so its good to see everything green and hopefully we will see color soon.” Rainfall amounts may differ where you live; Wilson recorded these figures from her weather station in Walhalla, which is about one-mile from the county seat. Wilson and her family, the Brandts, have been recording the weather from Walhalla for the National Weather Service for over 100 years. They are the longest active weather watchers and volunteer reporters for the National Weather Service.
