OC Courthouse receives Bomb Threat

Normal operations were halted this morning at the Oconee County Courthouse in downtown Walhalla after a bomb threat was made, tells Jimmy Watt, Public Information Officer with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. “Our E-911 Communications Center received a phone call around 8:34am this morning from an individual who claimed that the courthouse in Walhalla was going to blow up. So, we dispatched patrol units to the scene there. Also courthouse personnel from the Sheriff’s Office who were already on the scene were notified as well. Assistance was provided by the Walhalla Police and Fire Departments. The courthouse was searched, it was secured, did not find any type of explosive device or anything along those lines, and the investigation is still ongoing right now from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.” Business has returned to normal at the Oconee County Courthouse in downtown Walhalla.
