Former Clemson Finance Director charged with Embezzlement

Agents of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) today arrested the former finance director for the City of Clemson in connection with missing funds from his municipality. Booked into the Pickens County Detention Center was 61-year-old Tom Alexander Sparacino. He stands charged with embezzlement of public funds, value more than $10,000, which is a felony that carries a penalty upon conviction of up to 10 years in prison and fine in the proportion to the amount of the embezzled funds. The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the Clemson City Police Department. The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
