PRINTING PLANT IN OCONEE’S FUTURE?

Sources say “Project Omega” translates to the potential for a new printing plant in Oconee County, and county leaders have signified their interest in assisting. Last night County Council amended its agenda and gave 4-0 approval to a memorandum of understanding to direct economic incentives to the project that include the availability of 22 acres in the Information and Technology Park on highway 11. To avoid a conflict, District Two’s Wayne McCall did not take part in last night’s discussions–both in closed meeting session and later in open session. McCall says he had received an ethics opinion that, because he has done business with the company involved, he should not be part of the considerations.
