Gamecocks win Annual Carolina-Clemson Blood Drive

With over 5,000 pints of blood collected in one week, the people of South Carolina won the 33rd annual American Red Cross blood drive between the University of South Carolina and Clemson University. Between Nov. 13-17, Clemson collected 2,554 pints of blood compared to South Carolina’s 2,602 pints. So, the Gamecocks will be awarded the trophy at the big football game on Saturday, Nov. 25, at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. With the win, South Carolina leads the annual competition with Clemson, 18-15. The annual Carolina-Clemson Blood Drive is held the week before the rivalry football game. The blood drive comes at the start of the holiday season when blood donations typically decrease. Over the past three decades of competition, the universities have collected over 115,000 pints of blood.
