OCPL Board Meeting Tonight

If you are interested in learning what the Oconee County Public Library (OCPL) is doing in the community, you are invited to their board meeting tonight, Nov. 27, explains OCPL Director Blair Hinson. “We have our board meeting every other month, so this will be our last one for the year. They’ll be setting the board’s meeting calendar for next year, they’ll be setting the library holiday calendar for next year as well as talking about some other things. We’re sort of in the very beginning stages about talking about a strategic plan for the library going forward. We’ve got a lot of new faces at the library here lately and we really want to sort of refocus our efforts on certainly doing fun programs and coming up with some new innovations, new technologies and that kind of thing, but also refocus on just doing the basics. What can we do for the community as the library? What are some needs that we can meet and what are some things that we want to do? I think with the board’s direction you’re going to see library staff out pretty soon doing some focus groups and other things like that actually out in the community. We really want to know what people would like to see in our libraries because it is their libraries.” The OCPL Board Meeting at 5:30pm takes place in the Walhalla Library. Board meetings are open to the public and comment is welcome at the beginning of each meeting.
