Co-Conspirator sentenced for Methamphetamine Trafficking

United States Attorney Beth Drake stated Thursday that 42-year-old Miguel Angel Urieta-Jaimes of Atlanta, Georgia, was sentenced in federal court in Anderson, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. United States District Judge Timothy M. Cain, of Anderson, sentenced Urieta-Jaimes to 157 months imprisonment and four years of supervised release. Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing established that Urieta-Jaimes conspired with others throughout 2015, in Atlanta, Georgia and Anderson County, South Carolina, to distribute significant quantities of methamphetamine. Urieta-Jaimes coordinated deliveries to individuals in Anderson County and was eventually arrested, in November 2015; at the time, he was found in possession of various controlled substances, including methamphetamine, and a firearm. The case was investigated by ICE – Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney D. Josev Brewer of the Greenville Office handled the case.
