Clemson City Council to meet Monday

The Clemson City Council holds their regular monthly meeting on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at 6:30pm in Council Chambers of Clemson City Hall. According to the agenda, the council will discuss and consider the concept of future Downtown Clemson street festivals or events that could include the closure of College Avenue and issuance of “City issued” wrist bands for those events that would allow open container within the event boundaries; consider a request from Mr. David Lane, President/CEO Clemson Area Chamber to suspend parking fees in Downtown Clemson from Dec. 16, through Jan. 2, to encourage Christmas shopping and support of local merchants; consider issues related to the redevelopment of the old Astro Theater building into a new Downtown Event Center by a private developer, the City Council is asked to consider this project for “Economic Development Sewer Capacity” and a possible Infrastructure Reimbursement Agreement; and consider approval of a Downtown National Championship Viewing Event Festival and suspending open container laws for Downtown Clemson on Jan. 8, 2018 starting at 6pm, which shall be conditional upon Clemson Tigers participation in the National Championship football game. The meeting is open to the public.
