OC Sheriff’s Office arrests West Columbia Man for Grand Larceny

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a West Columbia man Wednesday on a charge of grand larceny. Booked into the Oconee County Detention Center by a deputy from the Warrants Division after being transported from the police department in Fayetteville, North Carolina where he was being held was 44-year-old Dwayne Eigner. On the afternoon of Dec. 7, a deputy responded to a business on Blue Ridge Boulevard in West Union in regards to a stolen vehicle, a 2018 Chevrolet 2500 Crew Cab, that was taken from the business on Dec. 2. The value of the vehicle is around $69,055. An investigation commenced and evidence was gathered in the case, which was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. As the investigation continued, it was determined that Eigner had checked out and taken the key to the Chevrolet pickup and then left with the key, getting into his personal vehicle and driving off from the business. Investigators believe that Eigner then gave the key to another individual, who is seen later on Dec. 2, getting out of a separate vehicle after pulling into the business parking lot and then proceeding to drive away from the business in the Chevrolet pickup. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation. At this time, Eigner remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a $20,000 surety bond.
