Last Day to vote in Fifth Annual Festival of Trees

This is the last day to vote in the Fifth Annual Festival of Trees at Duke Energy’s World of Energy, explains Mikayla Kreuzberger, Corporate Communications. “Today is the last day to vote on your favorite tree, we close at 5pm. The trees will be up Tuesday of next week and then they will be coming down. So, you can come next Tuesday to see the tree but you can’t vote. Voting ends today at 5pm, so I encourage anyone who wants to vote, come in today we will be there taking ballots. We have more than 20 beautifully decorated trees by local organizations and businesses.” This year’s winner receives a bigger prize, adds Kreuzberger. “We upped the prize and this year we announced that we would award a fourth winner. The first place winner now receives $2,500. Second place receives $1,500, third place $1,000 and fourth place $500. So, total more than $5,000 that Duke Energy will give to the winning trees.” The annual Festival of Trees brings the community together in many ways, continues Kreuzberger. “So, you can either be a business and sponsor a non-profit or a lot of non-profits decorated the tree and then they’re hoping to receive the prizes. So, it is a great opportunity to partner with our neighbors. Some of the decorators have been with us all five years. It is just a wonderful time and we get to make good partnerships as well.” Duke Energy’s World of Energy is located off Highway 130 in Seneca. It is free to attend, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
