First Oconee Passports completed

Congratulations to Carlton King and Carolyn King for being the first participants to complete the “Passport to Arts, Treasures and History” program. The passport program was launched this summer by the Oconee County Arts and Historical Commission and designed to engage our local citizens and re-introduce them to the amazing treasures Oconee County has to offer. The Passport showcases twenty-one (21) sites for family fun and copies are still available. Participants who visit all 21 sites and show their completed passports by the end of the year will receive a special gem and be entered for the grand prize treasure. Phil Shirley, Director of Parks, Recreation and Tourism for Oconee County, says, “We are excited to celebrate the first completed passports from our passport program. Our participating sites have all been very pleased with the increased attendance and we look forward celebrating more as we get closer to year end. We have an abundance of cultural, historical and artistic venues and our goal is to engage with our community and create ambassadors for these treasured sites.” Passports are still available at the Oconee Heritage Center, South Cove County Park and at manned sites listed in the passport program.
