Days and Days of Freezing Temperatures in OC

Oconee County has experienced freezing temperatures for 16 straight days, tells Official U.S. Weather Observer Barbara Wilson. “Since Christmas, we have had all of those days including up through today, below 32 degrees for a low and that turns out to be 16 days. Our high yesterday was better, it was 42 and the low was 27, as I mentioned below freezing. We only had .08 inches of precipitation in the last 24 hours and that is all we have had so far for January.” Weather readings may differ where you live, Wilson recorded these figures from her weather station at Hickory Hollow Farm in Walhalla. Wilson and her family, the Brandts, have been recording the weather from Walhalla for the National Weather Service for over 100 years. They are the longest active weather watchers and volunteer reporters for the National Weather Service.
