Golden Corner Rotary Club’s Tri-State Relays scheduled

Track athletes from across three states are expected in Seneca on April 13, to shine in their respective events for the Golden Corner Rotary Club’s 2018 Tri- State Relays. The club meets at 7:15am every Wednesday at Seneca Family Restaurant on U.S. 123 Bypass. Entry fee for the relays is $50 per school and can be made online through www.scrunners.com. The track and field meet will be featured live by WSNW The Lake Radio in Seneca (94.1 FM and 1150 AM) and streamed over the internet at www.wsnwradio.com. The annual event is the major fundraiser for the club that supports literacy programs including GED scholarships, donating books to children’s reading programs and sending two Seneca High School students to Rotary Youth Leadership Academy at Erskine College in Due West. Also, the club recently purchased a new gas stove and grill and two food preparation tables for the Our Daily Bread soup kitchen. “One hundred percent of donations go toward our projects,” said club president Jon Adams. “Supporting the Tri-State Relays is a tax deductible contribution.” Golden Corner Rotary Club past president and Relays Director Eddie Perry said the relays will take place under the lights at Seneca High School’s Bobcat Stadium. “We’re excited to again sponsor the relays with invitations to track teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia,” Perry said. Sponsorships for the meet are available and Rotary Clubs are encouraged to sponsor their local high school’s track teams. Track coaches and school supporters interested in registering their teams or individual competitors can contact Perry at [email protected] or Adams at [email protected]. Also, Adams can be reached at 864-654-5987. Follow the Golden Corner on Facebook. Medals will be awarded to all first, second and third place relay teams and ribbons through eighth place will be awarded. A team trophy will be presented to the overall top boys and girls teams. General admission for the public is $5 and concessions including grilled and smoked hot foods and snacks will be available.
