OC Woman arrested on a First Degree Burglary Charge

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Oconee County woman Friday evening on a charge of first degree burglary. Booked into the Oconee County Detention Center was 39-year-old Brandy Michelle Whitt. The Detention Center lists Whitt’s address as Crowes Roost Road in Walhalla while the arrest warrant lists Whitt’s address as Shiloh Road in Seneca. Whitt was also charged with one count of accessory after the fact of a felony. A deputy was dispatched to Oconee Memorial Hospital late in the afternoon on Jan. 3, in regards to an assault that had occurred in the county. The victim had been brought to the hospital by an individual who discovered the victim walking out of the woods. The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. As the investigation continued and evidence was gathered in the case, it was determined that Whitt along with 19-year-old Cameron Joe Gibson and 18-year-old Joseph Brandon Cobb made entry into a residence on Crowes Roost Road on Jan. 3, after the victim would not allow them entry into the residence. While there, Cobb and Gibson assaulted the victim. Cobb and Gibson went to a location on Wolfers Hollow Road while Whitt went to a separate location after the incident; however, Whitt was initially located by investigators the day after the incident at the Wolfers Hollow Road location as the investigation continued. Gibson and Cobb were booked into the Detention Center on Jan. 10. At this time, Whitt remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $30,000 surety bond. Also at this time, Gibson and Cobb remain in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center. Gibson and Cobb were each given combined $75,000 surety bonds.
