Two Vehicle Accident causes Power Outage in Seneca

A two vehicle accident caused a power outage and traffic backups this morning on Highway 123 in Seneca. It happened in the vicinity of the Bountyland Quik Stop, explains Lance Corporal Joe Hovis, Community Relations Officer for Troop 3 of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. “There was a passenger bus and the driver was coming from Paws, the restaurant right across the street from the Exxon station. The bus had arrived in the median and was proceeding to cross Highway 76 going to the Exxon station. Basically the bus failed to yield the right of way and was struck by another car, which caused the passenger bus to hit a power pole and that is where the problems started. There were no injuries.” The accident caused a widespread power outage that affected the area for more than an hour this morning. The power outage affected doctors offices, businesses and several schools, including Seneca High School, Seneca Middle School, Blue Ridge Elementary, and Adult Education.
