Exciting Time to live in OC

This is an exciting time to live in Oconee County, says Councilman Paul Cain. “Well, it is really exciting this year Oconee County turning 150-years-old. I don’t know anybody that old but the county is now that old and what long way it has come from its founding in 1868 to 2018 to be 150-years-old. The exciting thing is there is a pamphlet that our Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department has put out about 150 different things in Oconee County this year. I really encourage our residents to come pick one of those up and go and try to do all 150 things this year. There are a lot of things to do in Oconee County and there’s lots of exciting things happening.” Last night, the Oconee County Council officially kicked off the county’s 150th birthday celebration with a special proclamation. A large crowd packed the Oconee County Council Chambers on South Pine Street in Walhalla to witness the historic milestone. Attendees received a commemorative coin, a copy of the signed proclamation and a cupcake.
