Pickens Man sentenced on Murder Charge

Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins states that 24-year-old Albert Lavern Taylor pleaded guilty on Jan. 25, 2018 to murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He was sentenced to 32 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections by the Honorable Edward W. Miller. Taylor will have to serve that sentence day-for-day and is not eligible for parole. Evidence presented at the plea hearing by Assistant Solicitor Baker Cleveland established that on Feb. 17, 2016, Taylor, who was accompanied by two other men and one juvenile, went to the Tri-City Lanes in Easley where an argument ensued that culminated with Taylor shooting the victim, Kejuan Brown, killing him. The defendants fled the scene but were arrested that same night as they attempted to get gas in Dacusville. Easley Police Department investigated the case with assistance from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and Greenville County Authorities.
