Two New Committees formed in Seneca

Two new committees have been formed in the City of Seneca. In addition to the Light and Water Committee, Finance Committee, Events Committee and Museum Committee, the city has established the Seneca Development Incentive Committee and the Recreation Committee. Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander said the new development incentive committee will assist businesses. “It is a committee made up of three council members; Herman Smith will chair that committee along with Dana Moore and Mayor Pro-tem Ronnie O’Kelley. Other members of that committee, ex-officio members, Janet Hartman or Richard Blackwell from the Oconee Economic Alliance as well as members of the Merchants Association. Along with Utilities Director Bob Faires, Finance Director Josh Riches, Planning and Community Development Director Ed Halbig, City Administrator Greg Dietterick and myself. The committee will look at the possibility of setting up something that can be some type of incentive to help promote development in Seneca.” The recreation committee will be tasked with improving facilities, adds Mayor Alexander. “This is to look at the recreation needs that we have, the facilities that we have, the properties that we have and get a plan on the direction to go. That committee is made up of Joel Ward will be chairing it, along with Ronnie O’Kelley and Scott Durham along with Utilities Director Bob Faires, Finance Director Josh Riches, Planning and Community Development Director Ed Halbig, City Administrator Greg Dietterick and myself.” These new committees will meet and make recommendations to the full Seneca City Council for final approval.
