Simmons named New Assistant Superintendent of Instruction in SDOC

At the work session meeting held on Feb. 12, the Board of Trustees for the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) accepted the recommendation of Mrs. Marie L. Simmons as the new Assistant Superintendent of Instruction. The effective date of this appointment is July 1, 2018. Simmons has 19 years of experience as a teacher and administrator. She is currently the principal at Blue Ridge Elementary School. Simmons holds a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University, a master’s degree in education from Southern Wesleyan University, and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix. “Over the course of my career in Oconee County, I have been given the opportunity to grow as an educator and instructional leader. As Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, I look forward to continuing my journey by working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, staff, students, and community members of this amazing county.”
