OLLI at Clemson reaches West

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Clemson University, a membership community of nearly 1,300 seasoned adults in the Upstate, is reaching West. Thanks to a collaboration with the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce, OLLI will host courses and activities at the Westminster Train Depot and Walhalla Depot beginning with their Spring Term, the week of April 16. OLLI at Clemson is a lifelong learning community, created so that Upstate adults can continue learning, debating, traveling together and exploring new ideas and topics. Each year, more than 250 unique programs provide opportunities to gain knowledge and expertise in a wide variety of academic and recreational pursuits. OLLI membership is open to anyone who wishes to experience the wide range of courses and activities it offers, and the organization is strongly member-driven and volunteer-led. Mildred Spearman, OLLI Board of Advisors President, says “I have had nothing but positive comments from both Westminster and Walhalla about this extension of OLLI at Clemson. Travel will be easier, at least temporarily, for our potential members in that space. We are very proud of our Cheezem Education Center building, and are excited to build upon that as we branch towards Westminster and Walhalla.” OLLI will be hosting open houses to introduce OLLI to Western Oconee County. Each open house will feature a guest speaker, a look at the courses, activities, and special interest groups OLLI offers, and a special membership offer. The Walhalla open house will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Walhalla Depot, which is located at 211 South College Street and the Westminster open house will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Westminster Train Depot, which is located at 129 East Main Street, from 1-3pm each day. The events will be open to the public and free of charge. For more information, visit www.olliatclemson.org, call 864-633-5242 or by email at [email protected].
