One hospitalized after Fire at Walhalla Apartments

One person was hospitalized after a Wednesday evening fire at an apartment complex, reports Walhalla Fire Chief Brandon Burton. “One person was taken to the hospital for treatment. About 4:55pm yesterday afternoon, we got a call about a possible structure fire. When we arrived on scene there was heavy fire showing. We took immediate action against the fire and got it knocked down in about 15 minutes. Then we did transport one individual, one of the occupants, to the local hospital.” Several people were displaced by the fire at the Walhalla Gardens Apartments, adds Chief Burton. “There were probably about ten people that were displaced. The Red Cross is working with them to get them temporarily placed until the residents are repaired. The Walhalla Police Department along with the Walhalla Fire Department is still investigating the fire.” Approximately 35 people from the Walhalla Fire, Walhalla Police, West Union Fire, Walhalla Rescue, Westminster Rescue and Oconee County Emergency Services responded to the scene.
