Stretch before cleaning this Spring

Now that spring has arrived, people will inevitably be cleaning. But before you start, you might want to stretch first, says Doug Lauber, Chief of Occupational Therapy at Excel Rehab and Sports. “Depending on the type of work that you have planned for the day; for example trimming trees, pulling weeds, gardening, and laying mulch, you definitely need to warm up your muscles. You definitely need to make sure that you are drinking plenty of water so that your muscles are super playable and super hydrated before you dive into that task. If you don’t you are at a high risk of developing injuries or pain or soreness.” If pain or soreness persists longer than 48 hours after you have performed your spring cleaning then Lauber recommends seeing a physician because you may have an injury.
