OC Sheriff to propose Arming School Personnel

Next week, Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw and Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland will make a proposal to further enhance school safety. Sheriff Crenshaw said the proposal would be to arm principals and selected other school personnel who would undergo extensive training on how to handle weapons and when to use them. The sheriff said if their proposal receives a favorable vote Monday night by the Board of Trustees for the School District of Oconee County, he would discuss the proposal the next day with the Oconee County Council’s law enforcement committee.
